This section contains information describing how to use the Oracle Net8 Assistant to configure tracing. Tracing is a feature that will assist you to diagnose and troubleshoot network problems. Enabling the tracing feature on the client allows you to obtain more information about the internal operations of Net8 than is provided in a log file. The Oracle Net8 Assistant allows you to enable tracing on either the client or server, as well as to specify the name and location to which the trace files will be written. Trace Level To enable tracing, use the Trace Level pull-down menu in the Client Information text area or Server Information text area to select a trace level for either a client or server respectively. You may set tracing to any of the following levels:
