Advanced Tuning Options


This section contains information describing how to use the Oracle Net8 Assistant to configure advanced tuning options for Names Servers.

Click on any one of the following to learn more about:

Authority Required

To determine whether system queries require Authoritative answers, click on the Authority Required checkbox.

Default Forwarders Only

To specify whether the active Names Server will use servers to forward all operations involving data in foreign regions, click on the Default Forwarders Only checkbox.

Forwarding Desired

To specify that the active Names Server will forward queries, click on the Forwarding Desired checkbox.

Forwarding Available

To specify that the active Names Server will forward operations to foreign regions, click on the Forwarding Available checkbox.

Modify Requests

To specify that the active Names Server refuse any operations which modify data in its region, click on the Modify Requests checkbox.

Maximum Reforwards

To specify the maximum number of times the active Names Server will attempt to forward an operation, enter a value between 1 and 15 in the Maximum Reforwards field provided.
