Cache


This section contains information describing how to use the Oracle Net8 Assistant to enable and configure tracing on a Names Server.

Flush Foreign Region Data

To flush the Names Server cache, click on the Flush Foreign Region Data button in the Cache text box, then click Apply at the bottom of the tab panel. This will force the Names Server to clear all foreign region data from the Names Server cache.

Reload from Region Database

To reload information from a region database to this Names Server , click on the Reload from Region Database button in the Cache text box, then click Apply at the bottom of the tab panel. This will force the Names Server to check for any data changes in its administrative region immediately. If there have been any changes, the Names Server will reload all database service names, global database links, and aliases.

To reload information from a region database to all Names Server, select Reload All Names Servers from the TOOLS menu.

Checkpoint Cache

To checkpoint the Names Server cache, click on the Checkpoint Cache button in the Cache Operations text box, then click Apply at the bottom of the tab panel. This will force the Names Server to write its cache to its checkpoint file. This operation cannot be performed immediately, a wait time must be specified.

Dump Cache to Trace File

To dump the Names Server cache to its trace file, click on the Dump Cache to Trace File button in the Cache Operations text box, then click Apply at the bottom of the tab panel. This operation cannot be performed immediately, a wait time must be specified.

Perform Operation

To specify a time interval during which Oracle Net8 Assistant will wait before performing an operation, enter a time interval in seconds in the Wait field provided. To perform operation immediately, click Immediately in the Perform Operation field. To cancel an already scheduled operation, enter a time value of zero in the Wait field provided.

Click Apply at the bottom of the tab panel to execute the command selected.
