This section contains instructions for using the Oracle Net8 Assistant to configure advanced performance and naming options for each service name address. Click on any of the following to learn more about:
Data Unit A data unit is a buffer that allows Net8 to temporarily hold data before transmitting it across the network. Net8 sends the data either on request or when the buffer is full. Depending on your specific network, you can maximize the rate of data transfer and improve performance, by adjusting the size of the session data unit (SDU). The size of the unit should be a multiple of the normal transport frame size (for Ethernet, this is 1064). To adjust the session data unit (SDU) size, enter a value in the Session field in the Data Unit text area provided. Net8 sets the SDU to 2048 by default. Back to "Advanced Options"
Source Route The source route identifies the listening address of Oracle Connection Manager followed by the destination address of the database service to which a client may connect. When source route is selected, Net8 will use the addresses specified to route a connection through Oracle Connection Manager to a destination server. To specify a source route address, click on the "Source Route" checkbox. To route sessions through Oracle Connection Manager using the source route address, you will need to configure additional parameters in a client profile. For more information, click on "Routing".
